Summary:
Saunton Golf Club was established in 1897. Originally a 9 hole course it was extended to 18 holes in 1908.
The club offers two Championship standard courses - The East course and The West Course both of which have been listed as one of the '100 Best Courses in the UK' by both Golf World and Golf monthly.
The strength of the East Course lies in the long par 4 holes which usually require a driver from the tee but the wind plays an important part in the decision-making process and the prevailing wind is from Hartland Point in the south west.
The West Course is a Championship course in its own right and arguably needs more attention to course management than its wonderful neighbour the East. The West needs more thought to club selection from the tee and more precision into well guarded greens.
