Since its construction in 1972 the golf course has matured well and now offers golfers a far more established venue than the majority of local, modern, golf courses. With water hazards (both ponds and ditches) coming into play on 11 holes, the course offers a real challenge for the more accomplished golfer (hence its selection as host to the County Championships) whilst still being enjoyable for the less experienced player. Well presented greens, appropriately sized teeing areas, an automated irrigation system to greens and tees (refurbished in 2005), plus a comprehensive drainage system ensure that the course is enjoyed by members and visiting golfers throughout the year.
