Summary:

Aroeira is a simply fantastic golf resort set on nearly 900 acres of nature preservation area on the Seubal Peninsula, 15 miles South of Lisbon.

This area around Lisbon is fast becoming a favourite holiday area for golfers and non-golfers alike. The coast is simply fantastic with long, wide beaches, traditional Portugese villages offering food, beer and wine at prices well below the prices experienced on the Algarve, plus easy access to the culture and sophistication of Lisbon.

Aroeira Golf Resort is a holiday paradise for golfers and non-golfers alike. The huge resort offers everything you would expect of a top quality golf holiday resort and the setting and surrounding countryside are simply stunning.

In addition to other holiday pursuits Aroeira offers two fantastic golf courses.

Aroeira I was designed by UK golf architect Frank Pennink (other courses Vilamoura and Palmeres). as a consequene Aroeira has a distinctly British feel to it. The design makes full use of natural undulations, forest trees and water features to add challenge to course where no two holes are the same. It is generally accepted as being one of the best courses in Europe and hosted the Portuguese Open in 1996 and 1997 and a number of Ladies Opens.

Aroeira II, designed by Donald Steel and opened in April 2000, is a course designed with future Portuguese Opens in mind. The course winds round 5 lakes and through massive pine trees to create interest and challenge for golfers of all ability. For a number of years it has hosted the Qualifying School of Ladies European Tour and several Portuguese Ladies Opens.

Aroeira is simply fantastic and worthy of serious consideration as your next golf holiday destination.

Played both the old and new courses while on a golf holiday with friends. They were both fantastic courses, very pretty, challenging layout without being impossible to play, big greens and superbly maintained. Clubhouse was very friendly and surprisingly fair prices for food and drink. Well worth making the effort to play here (both course if you can, if you can't the old course is more parkland while the new course is more water - 5 lakes!)
