Summary:

Praia D'El Rey Golf Resort, winner of ‘Golf Resort of the Year’ 2007, is a very high class golfing holidays resort spread across 600 acres of beautiful, windswept coastal area on the Atlantic coast north of Lisbon, widely known as the 'Silver Coast.'

The course, which opened in 1997, was designed by Cabell B. Robinson and is probably one of the most picturesque courses you’ll ever see offering a visually impressive mix of pine tree and undulating sand dune holes. With its trade mark bold, deep bunkers and large undulating greens the course has, in a remarkably short time, matured into one of the best links courses in Europe and been recognised as such with numerous awards.

The rough, comprising gorse and tough grasses, can be brutal and the wind almost always adds another degree of complexity, but the course is beautiful to walk and to play. So even if your game is not on top form you will enjoy the experience.

Paria del Rey is a an hour+ drive north from Lisbon but when you get there you can see why they bothered. the resort is built along the most fantastic beach ive seen in years backed by huge sand dunes. the resort is high quality (had a great lunch) and the course doesn't disappoint with the holes winding there way up the coast and offering great challenge (especially in the wind). lovely resort and beautiful course, well be back and will probalby stay at the resort next time (some lovely villas for rent)

About 1.5 hours north of Lisbon and so a bit of a trek but it's certainly worth it, a superb clubhouse and a fantastic course. Laid out along an unspoilt piece of the 'Silver Coast', playing along, over and around sand dunes and with massive variety in the holes this is a great design and well worth the trouble of getting there.
