Summary:

Palmares, designed by Frank Pennink, is one of the oldest courses on the Algarve and some say it remains one of the best.

The course is excellently maintained and enjoys magnificent views of the bay of Lagos and the distant Monchique hills.

The quality of the course is reflected in the fact that it regularly hosts prestigious events (TAP Open in 1984 & 1985; European Zone Qualifying Competition for the XXXII World Cup in 1985; Almond Blossom Amateur Tournament, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008).

Facilities:

Excellent clubhouse with changing rooms, bars, full catering, panoramic terrace. Golf pro shop with full equipment hire. Golf practice facilities inc driving range, pitching & putting greens

Played here many times because it is a fantastic course and a lot less crowded than the other quality courses along the Algarve. The clubhouse is good but a little expensive but the course is superb. It's one of the oldest courses on the Algarve and so the course looks like it belongs on the land rather than cut through the land. No two holes are the same, not overly long but certainly a challenge and it's always well maintained. Definitely one which should be on your list if you're playing golf on the Algarve
