Summary:

Benamor Golf Club was designed by Sir Henry Cotton back in 1986 (designer of Penina) but has only recently been built.

The course is laid out on undulating land with pleasant views both to the Atlantic Ocean and the hills of the Serra do Caldeirão. The retention of as many trees as possible along the course means that player accuracy is well rewarded and these natural obstacles, coupled with strategically placed bunkers and occasional water hazards, make the course a worthwhile challenge for golfers of all ability.

Had a starter man explain the course on 1st tee which was very useful. Course extremely busy all day and the round was very slow = 5.50 hrs duration! Course was well laid out and easy to see where to play to so easier going on non regular golfers However the state of the course was a little run down; poor tees with loads of divot holes and uneven tops to them; bunkers with very thin sand depths; greens that were pitted with holes where golfers have not relaid there pitch marks; generally a bit tired looking; no mozzies though! Clubhouse staff were friendly and served good food as did the mobile buggy whizzing around the course all day A lady sold million dollar tickets for a hole in one at tenth hole, where if you hit the green you would get double stake back to spend in clubhouse.
