Summary:

The New Forest Golf Club, founded in 1888, is a very picturesque heathland course situated in the heart of the New Forest in Lyndhurst. You are assured of a warm and friendly welcome at our Club which offers a unique opportunity to experience a natural forest course which measures just under 6,000 yards with a par of 69 and has some of the most scenic holes in Hampshire. As Peter Alliss wrote, “If you want to become involved in one of the really nice things in golf, go along to the New Forest Golf Club and have a game. In these days of high powered chrome fronted clubhouses, it is nice to get among the real people in golf”. The course, with ponies and deer roaming across it, provides a real challenge (in very pictureque surroundings) to golfers of all abilities and, whilst it may appear short on paper, check out the 585 yd 3rd hole and the 250 yd par 3 8th. Visitors are most welcome at the New Forest Golf Club.

Really enjoyed the round here, although our great british weather attempted to destroy it with a massive downpour. It is quite simply the most wildlife friendly course I have ever played, with a peppering of Ponies and wildlife in random settings all over the course. I did have to putt towards a foal which was laying on the Green at one of the holes, with his buddies all scattered around the edge munching away quite happily at the edges. Other than the wildlife it has a series of really testing par 4 holes and a great smattering of par 3's on the back nine, a couple of long par 5's keep you on your toes as well. Currently there is an issue with the greens but this only slightly hinders the natural beauty of playing the course plus they seem to be well on there way to being back to normal. The place plays similar to a links course and really feels a pleasure to play. really enjoyable!!

This is one of my favourite courses. It is right in the heart of the New Forest on protected land and shared with many of the NF ponies. As a result it has it's own local rules with preferred lies in play at all times and relief available from animal damage/droppings! Tt has seven Par 3s and a few short Par 4s but remains a decent challenge. Unfortunately the greens are poor at present due (I believe) to a greenkeeping aberration early in the season - a great shame. All staff are extremely friendly and the Trifle is first class!
