The Leckford Golf Courses are owned by the John Lewis Partnership and the facilities are available to their employees and their employees families. The golf facilities at Leckford comprise two 9-hole courses, the Old Course 6276 yards par 72 and the New Course 4546 yards par 66. The Old Course is set in approximately 100 acres of rolling Hampshire downland which forms part of the famous Test Valley. The course was designed in the early 1930s by Harry S Colt who also designed many of the UK's famous golf courses, such as Wentworth, Muirfield, Royal Lytham and St Anne's, Sunningdale and Trevose to name but a few. Leckford Old Course is reported to be the finest and most challenging 9-hole course in the country, if not Europe. The New Course, having a charm of its own, is quite different. It was designed by Donald Steel and opened in 1989 and is set in 45 acres, overlooking the Old Course and the River Test. The New Course is ideal for the not so accomplished golfer, yet can also prove to be a challenge for the lower handicap player. Leckford is not available to visitors but is available to Society groups (8 or more players). Contact club to make arrangements.

This is the first time I've played this 9 hole private course. It is owned By the Waitrose/ John Lewis group, so you can only play it with an employee/partner, or in a society. It states on its website that it is one of the best 9 hole courses in Uk/Europe, & I have to say, I havn't played them all, but this is very nice. It starts with a couple of par 5s & then a nice hill to hill par 3 etc. I think the quality of the fairways & the Greens. visual quality are what made it most enjoyable for me. Unusual payment system...You have to pay by card, or cash but you have to do it yourself as no one tends the club hut. Its down to trust!
