Description

Officially referred to as Aa St Omer Golf Club (fter the River Aa along the river valley of which part of the course is set).
The championship course, opened in 1990, was designed to enhance the stunning natural landscape of the area. The nine holes which run along and across the river valley rise and fall dramatically offering fantastic views of the surrounding countryside and with water coming into play (although not massively). Then the other nine holes form a very pleasant contrast by running through a very mature wood of beech and oak.
The course is always extremely well maintained and has hosted many regional championships including the annual Open de Saint-Omer (a highlight of any European Professional golf tour).
Visitors are always welcome.

This is a superb course well worth the 40 minutes drive from Calais or to include it as part of a couple of days away (but check your directions because it's nowhere near Saint Omer!) The people in the clubhouse & pro shop were all very welcoming and the course is well maintained and excellently laid out with the holes running along and across the river valley offering great elevation changes and great views and in complete contrast to the holes running through the wood. In summary, excellent, well worth the money (we paid €65), I'd definitely play it again but next time I'd get a buggy (I don't like buggies but Aa Saint Omer is a hilly walk!)
