Summary:

Hailed as one of the finest recently-built golf courses in England, Chart Hills is the British architectural debut of six times Major winner, Nick Faldo. Set on 200 acres of gently undulating hills, Chart Hills was officially opened for play in August 1993 and has already gained many accolades: being voted "Best new course in England" by Golf World, "Best inland course in the United Kingdom" by Following the Fairways, and being ranked number 5 in World of Golf's 2004 listings of top 200 courses in UK & Ireland. In addition, Chart Hills has been chosen to host the European Tour qualifying school venue and again in 2007 plays host to the Ladies English Open. Offering 138 bunkers, clever and abundant use of water hazards, and greens so fast that in the summer months, it is akin to putting on glass, Faldo has succeeded in creating a real parkland masterpiece. While the course on the whole, will certainly create a positive lasting impression, two of the signature features of the design include the long "Anaconda Bunker" on the 5th hole and the illusive island green on the short 17th hole. Nick Faldo said "Chart Hills has surpassed even my expectations and I doubt that anyone would ever tire of playing this course" A 'Chart Hills Golf Day' provides the perfect opportunity to entertain your guests in a five star environment where emphasis is placed on service of the highest quality. Upon arrival your clubs will be unloaded by our service staff and be ready for collection from the starter's hut when required. A registration area will be provided from which you can meet and greet your guests and after play your guests can enjoy the luxury of our recently refurbished bars and private dining rooms.

Played Chart Hills as part of a discount four-ball package so cost £40 each and at that price I have to say it is fantastic value for money. Course is great as long as you avoid the bunkers and the clubhouse has a great terrace to watch the 9th and 18th greens with a cold beer. I think it is expensive normally but if you get the chance to play at £40-£50 then take it, you won't be disappointed

A fantastic course, well worth the money which currently is £45 for the winter rate, this runs until the end of march. My first visit to the course though I have been meaning to play it for some years. The fairways have generous landing areas and the greens large with plenty of slopes, they also ran at a very good speed. there are a "few" bunkers (138) but I managed to only find two greenside, if you aim for the wide parts of the fairways they certainly should not come into play of the tee. Given the choice to play from the Blue tee's by the starter as h/c's were lower then 18. The course yardage from these are 6449 compared to 5841 for the yellows and I would recommend playing from these if allowed. First visit and shot 80 off a 14 h/c and sadly 3 putted the par 3 17th. so certainly not a daunting course.
Aside from the cost - excellent., 05 Dec 2007, by Pete Connon

This is a pretty, excellently maintained course with superb supporting facilities. There are, apparently 138 bunkers on the course but most of them are really only for show as they shouldn't be in play (running along the sides of fairways in what would otherwise be rough etc), but they certainly add to the impressive look of the course. Staff always seem friendly and the service in the bar is great. The only pity is that the clubhouse doesn't really overlook the 18th green. All in all a top notch club and well worth a visit but preferably using the Open Fairways card to get the 50% reduction on the £250 'tee time' green fee (ie four people - bizarrely the annual membership of Open Fairways is actually less than you save by getting 50% off one gree fee at Chart Hills!).
