Summary:

Canons Brook Golf club, a championship length course designed by the famous Henry Cotton, is situated on the outskirts of Harlow. Situated in 112 acres of mature rolling countryside the 18 hole, 6769 yard, par 73 championship length course is said to be one of the finest golf courses in Essex. Sir Henry Cotton, whose philosophy was to create a championship length course with very little rough, but incorporating many bunkers and large undulating greens, a task he accomplished in style. The course was opened in 1966 and it makes excellent use of the landscape and its numerous natural and man-made hazards. The Canons Brook, from which the club takes it's name, meanders through various parts of the course but is particulalry in play on 1st, 17th & 18th holes. The clubhouse, which retains the style of existing barn style buildings, provides a relaxing and friendly atmosphere in which to enjoy a post-match drink, or a meal in the excellent restaurant, that will help to complete a great day of golf.

played the course on Sunday 14 of may after 1pm As per visitors rule! First and foremost we arroved a good 20mins early And poped in the pro shop to book in ,we were asked To wait around till 1pm outside the pro shop! What kind of welcome is that?! Second we got stuck behind hoards of fourballs! 5hrs later! The greens are terrible! Bobble bobble then bobble some more! Very bare and patchy across all 18holes! Teeing grounds not flat! Some feature severe slopes! As for the £38 charge they must be having a laugh! Never to revisit

Seriously guys, If you want to get challenged off of yellow tees, this course will do it. There is one green being played with a temporary green, but the other greens are as good as you'll find. And man are they nice and quick. keep it straight and you can score ok, dont hit near the fairways and it'll bite ya where you dont want it to. Clubhouse was nice, good service and food was adequate. I reckon I'll be playing there again next month. Lok on my friends list for Stephen slater if you want to join his little society playing there. we get a good rate too with Stephen. Enjoy

I played here after a weekend of heavy rain. The fairways and greens were wet. Some very interesting holes, and the river that runs through the course comes into play on a few holes. A really nice, parkland course that does appear to be well looked after. Staff were friendly and helpful, although no breakfast before 11am!!! I'm really looking forward to playing this course again

Event though the course was more than a little damp - the greens played true and the course was in OK condition (well looked after over the Christmas period when it laid under a blanket of snow for quite a while). At the time of play temporary tees were in play (and these were mats which could take a tee without needing to drill the hole first) but there was no adverse effect. Only 2 temporary green in play - somethign to do with planning permissions - whicc meant that one hole payed 60 yards shorter (temporary green must gave been OK as I managed to Par). Major reconstruction of the 14th hole, now includig a brand new lake and extensive OOB down the right, when complete this will be another feature hole at this course. Now that the large Oak tree has been removed from the First hole, it should be a lot lot easier but still manages to catch the unwary.... Good challenge - even in a minor blizzard - for all handicaps... Club house was a we,come sight and lucnh was good. The only thing missing is a driving range... but then again just get out and play...

Difficult to give a fair review of this course as it snowed for half the time we were on the course! Having said that, the greens were in great condition for the time of year and there are some challenging holes. Fairly flat and open and it felt like it could do with a little tidying up in places but I understand it is about to undergo a major renovation soon. Friendly enough staff but I wouldnt rush back.
