The Brunsfield Links Golfing Society was originally formed in 1761 and played first at Bruntsfield Links in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle. From here they moved to Musselburgh and then, in 1898, to their present location on land on the north-west outskirts of Edinburgh.
The original course was laid out by that most famous of golf course architects - Willie Park Jnr. Subsequent remodelling occurred in 1922 (conducted by Dr. Alistair Mackenzie) and in 1972 (conducted by Hawtree).
The course, although not long by modern standards, is a true test of links golf with moguls and deep pot-hole bunkers being the main obstacle on the fairways and subtle borrows on the greens being the major impediment to a low score.
The course offers some fantastic views across the Firth of Forth and the quality of it's challenge is demonstrated by the fact that is has hosted the British Seniors, the British Boys, the Scottish Youths and other Amatuer Championships.
Visitors are welcome. Contact club to make arrangements.
