Golf Holidays & Golf Breaks in Costa Almeria

Costa Almeria is an almost totally unspoilt area of Spain running along 200 miles of the southern coastal area.

To the east of Almeria is the rugged and desolate coast of the Cabo de Gata - Nijar nature reserve. This is an arid desert landscape and the annual rainfall here is less than 200mm. It is sparsely populated, few villages and a very low population density. This area is particularly popular with nature lovers and back-packers.

The Western side of Almeria is rapidly becoming a highly developed tourist area with resorts such as Roquetas de Mar and Aguadulce growing rapidly. These have all the facilities of any modern resort to support the package holiday market. Here you will find beaches with white, fine grained sand and safe bathing, secluded coves sheltered by cliffs, lively fishing harbours and marinas, rugged desolate areas, salt lagoons and nature reserves.

The capital, Almeria, has some exciting architecture including the Cathedral with its gothic interior and the vast moorish Citadel of Alcazaba which dominates the town. The fishing harbour at Villaricas has, as a magnificent backdrop, the sierra Almagrera mountain. This lively resort has many excellent fish restaurants. There are some spectacular caves close by. The most popular coastal village is San Jose.
